Health Access America 2007
This initiative is experiencing striking success in linking uninsured individuals with available public and private health coverage options. We’re working in nine target markets chosen for their socioeconomic diversity-Baton Rouge, LA; Cleveland, OH; Columbia, SC; Corpus Christi, TX; Las Cruces, NM; Las Vegas, NV; Nashville, TN; Raleigh, NC and Saginaw, MI. So far, we have conducted 1,125 health coverage events attracting 33,122 attendees and we have enrolled 16,405 individuals.
Bringing a New Approach to the Health Coverage Challenge
The rising number of uninsured Americans represents the most important health care issue facing our nation today. A high number of Americans without health insurance affects national productivity, the health of our society, our health care infrastructure and the cost of health care for everyone.
The Partnership
Health Access America is a broad-based partnership of national and local partners that educates and informs the uninsured, the media, and the public at large about affordable health care options. Health Access America partners, representing consumers, patient advocacy groups, health care providers, employers, and others with interest in the uninsured crisis, bring together their respective grassroots and communications resources to achieve this shared objective. Health Access America develops and distributes free information, materials and tools and sponsors local and national events to educate partners, consumers and other stakeholders about the issue of the uninsured and to help people find health coverage.
Utilizing the combined resources of campaign members and the HLC-managed infrastructure, Health Access America will increase public awareness about the value of insurance and opportunities for coverage through:
- Grassroots Outreach
- Advocacy and Education
- Earned Media
- Research and Polling
