- LaCHIP provides health care coverage for the children of Louisiana's working families with moderate and low incomes. Children must be under age 19 and not covered by health insurance. - The Louisiana Health Plan provides health insurance coverage for those individuals who cannot obtain health insurance coverage elsewhere due to pre-existing medical conditions. There are two plans available to the residents of Louisiana the high risk pool and the HIPAA pool. Information is available at http://www.lahealthplan.org or 1-800-680-8728.
- Louisiana's Medicaid Program provides medical coverage for needy Louisiana residents who qualify. Information can be found at www.dhh.state.LA.us/medicaid or 1-800-220-5404.
- LaHIPP, the Louisiana Health Insurance Premium Payment program is part of Louisiana Medicaid. It may pay some or all of the health insurance premiums for an employee and their family if they have insurance available through their jobs and someone in the family is eligible for Medicaid. - The Trade Adjustment Assistance (TAA) program provides aid - including health insurance assistance - to trade displaced workers who lose their jobs or whose hours of work and wages are reduced. Health care benefits include a 65% advanceable and refundable tax credit that can be used for health insurance coverage such as COBRA or continuing individual market coverage.
