- The Health Insurance Premium Payment (HIPP) Program for Texas Medicaid recipients and their families is a program that pays the cost of Medical Premiums. The Program reimburses clients or employers for private health insurance payments for Medicaid eligible persons when it is cost effective. - The Children's Health Insurance Program (CHIP) is designed for families who earn too much money to qualify for Medicaid, yet cannot afford to buy private insurance for their children. Information is available at 1-877-KIDS-NOW or http://www.chipmedicaid.com/english/apply.htm
- The Trade Adjustment Assistance (TAA) program provides aid - including health insurance assistance - to trade displaced workers who lose their jobs or whose hours of work and wages are reduced. Health care benefits include a 65% advanceable and refundable tax credit that can be used for health insurance coverage such as COBRA or continuing individual market coverage. Individuals who qualify for the federal HCTC can use their tax credit dollars to purchase the Texas Blue Alliance health insurance product.
